Lakehouse Hotel and Resort - A Southern California Hidden Gem
If you're planning your next trip to Southern California, especially if you are traveling with kids or pets, I can't recommend Lake San Marcos enough! The stunning Lakehouse Hotel and Resort is located in San Marcos, California just an hour north of San Diego. After just two nights at Lakehouse Hotel, I knew that this vacation would go down as one of our all-time family favorites!
Lakehouse Hotel and Resort is extremely kid-friendly. It's also one of the most pet-friendly resorts we’ve ever stayed at. Although Lakehouse Hotel and Resort focuses on family fun, it doesn't feel like a vacation just for the kids. There are plenty of experiences for adults too.

Accommodations at Lakehouse Hotel And Resort
Premier Lake View Room Review
The luxe accommodations throughout the resort are top-notch. You can't go wrong no matter where you choose to stay.
We stayed in a Premier Lake View Room, a lakefront room with incredible views of Lake San Marcos. The room itself is spacious and the beds are an absolute dream. You definitely won't miss your bed at home while you're away.
The room also had a couch, which was great for working and hanging out. The balcony was furnished with comfortable chairs for outdoor seating and enjoying the gorgeous lakefront views.
Dining At Lakehouse Hotel and Resort
The Grill
The Grill at Lakehouse Hotel and Resort is located at The Links at Lakehouse Golf Club, less than a mile away from the resort. The Grill had incredible offerings from breakfast to dinner. Best of all, the outdoor seating gives you great views of the golf course and range.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious. The Wild Berry French Toast is a must for breakfast, and the Citrus Panko Shrimp for dinner was unreal!
Amalfi Cucina Italiana
Amalfi Cucina Italiana is located right on Lakehouse Hotel and Resort and of course, features incredible lakefront views. You can enjoy the Marina downstairs which is more casual or the Cucina on the second floor which is fancier.
The staff is incredible and the food was divine. Many of their pastas are made in-house, so you really can't go wrong, but their hand-crafted pizzas were my favorite.
For beverages, I have to recommend the create-your-own Old-Fashioned. It was such a fun experience!
**Amalfi Cucina Italiana is privately owned and the bill cannot be charged to your room.
What To Do At Lakehouse Hotel and Resort
The Links at Lakehouse
Located just a minute from Lakehouse Hotel and Resort, this 71-par course is a must for all golfers. The Links at Lakehouse features gorgeous backdrops for some of the best golf you'll ever play.
S’Mores
With every stay, Lakehouse Hotel and Resort provides you with a S’mores kit to be enjoyed at one of the many fireplaces within the property. We enjoyed our campfire at sunset next to the lakefront pool.
Pickleball and Tennis
Although we didn’t have time to play, Lakehouse Hotel and Resort offers pickleball and tennis courts for your enjoyment.
Marina
The Marina at Lakehouse Hotel and Resort is jam-packed with options for different activities on the water. No boat rental is required: your stay includes an hour of paddle boarding or kayaking per day! You can also rent a Duffy, pontoon, or pedal boat for a day on the lake. If you would prefer to stay off the water, you can pay a small fee to go fishing on the dock.
We rented a Duffy Boat for an hour one morning. It was definitely a highlight of the trip! We ordered room service dockside and had it delivered to the boat. Everyone enjoyed the peaceful and beautiful breakfast enjoying the surroundings on Lake San Marcos.

Overall, our Lakefront Resort experience was far beyond expectations. From the amenities to the charm to the dining, every part of our stay was truly idyllic. It’s an incredible getaway, perfect for making memories with family and friends. We can’t wait to visit again soon!
