The Ultimate Dallas Travel Guide

If you’ve never been to Dallas, this is your sign to book a trip and explore one of the most exciting cities in the country. Whenever I think about Dallas, I think about the sports – the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. If you’re in the same boat, you are in for a treat!

We visited Dallas in February and had an array of weather during our visit. Within 4 days, we experienced a perfect 70-degree day, a super-hot 90-degree day, and our last day was a solid 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and we were praying not to get snowed in. According to many locals, this is expected of the city, and you should pack both shorts and a coat just in case! Just a friendly reminder too – Dallas is super humid; no matter the amount of hairspray, my curls refused to stay intact.

Discover the Ultimate Dallas Travel Guide! Whenever I travel I make sure to find the best food in the city so I can share it with you. Make sure to pack for all seasons as Dallas weather can be unpredictable, but don't let that stop you from exploring this exciting city. Use my Dallas Travel Guide to plan the best trip to Dallas and make it an unforgettable experience.

Transportation Around Dallas

We didn’t have a car during our stay in Dallas, and we racked up a hefty Uber and Lyft bill – especially to get to the airport on our way back. I do recommend getting a vehicle because of the variety of neighborhoods to explore.

Where To Stay in Dallas

Thompson Dallas

If you have been following me for some time now, you would know that I am OBSESSED with the Thompson Hotels. I simply love their style, their vibes, and their restaurants are always incredible. With that being said, I can pretty much say that the Thompson Dallas is probably one of my top Thompson Hotels to stay at and is one of my Top 3 Favorite Hotels ever!

The room we stayed in was incredibly spacious, well-designed, and the views were top notch. Thompson Dallas is the first several floors of the historical National Dallas Building, located centrally in Downtown Dallas. In the same building, you will find some of Dallas’s best restaurants alongside an in-building dog park (and doggy day care), salon, spa, flower shop, and so much more!

Things To Do in Dallas

Dallas Arboretum

One of my absolute favorite places in the world is the Dallas Arboretum! The collection of gardens here, the DeGolyer house, and many other beautiful attractions, you can easily spend a whole day at the Dallas Arboretum. As previously mentioned, we visited Dallas in February, and even then, the Dallas Arboretum was still outstanding. We do look forward to visiting again during Spring and/or Summer to enjoy the gardens at its peak.

Reunion Tower

The Reunion Tower is a great place to see 360-views of Dallas, especially on a clear day. We visited during sunset, and I HIGHLY recommend doing that. The views are stunning and although it’s a bit restricted due to the framing around the deck, it’s still one of the best spots to visit during your stay in Dallas.

Bishop Arts District

The Bishop Arts District is not too far from Downtown Dallas and is an incredibly neat neighborhood. The way they used old homes as restaurants and stores is very unique and quite clever. You can easily spend a few hours here, just enjoying one of Dallas’s best neighborhoods.

Wild Detectives

Located in the Bishop Arts District, Wild Detectives is an awesome bookstore/coffee shop/cocktail bar! Whether you’re needing to get some work done on your laptop, a cup of coffee, or a stiff drink – Wild Detectives is 100% worth the visit!

Places To Eat in Dallas

Located on the ninth floor of the National Dallas, Nine is a great spot for brunch when visiting Downtown Dallas. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and the food was great. I highly recommend trying the Tempura Lobster Cobb Salad – SO GOOD!

Monarch Best Restaurant in Dallas National Dallas Where to eat in dallas places to eat in dallas food visit dallas guide.jpg

Located on the 49th floor of the National Dallas, Monarch is one of the most beautiful, well thought-out, and delicious restaurants I have ever been to! We were served the Royale with the wine pairing, and it’s a whole lot of top-notch and great quality dishes and wines. This is hands down one of the best restaurants in Dallas and is one of our overall Top 5 Restaurants around the world. Make sure to reserve your table EARLY as it can get difficult to get in.

Best Tex Mex Food in Dallas Texas Where to eat in dallas food guide travel guide to dallas.jpg

Located at Victory Park, Mesero offered some of the best Tex Mex dishes in all of Dallas! With several locations across Dallas, Mesero is a must during your visit. The brisket taco is what they’re famous for – and I highly recommend you give it a try!

Kessaku Dallas Best Sushi National Dallas Where to eat in dallas places to eat in dallas food visit dallas guide.jpg

Located on the 50th floor of the National Dallas, this lounge-style Sushi spot is an absolute MUST when visiting Dallas. The menu is small, ensuring that you only get the best of the best; and with all honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything you order!

Fun little tip: order a drink before finishing your dinner and take it with you while you walk around the remainder of the floor where you can enjoy some of the best views of Dallas!

Ellie's Dallas WHere to eat in dallas things to do ultimate travel guid.jpg

Ellie’s is one of the most stunning restaurants I’ve ever been to. Located at the Hall Arts Hotel, this restaurant serves as one of the most Instagrammable restaurants of all time where you can also enjoy great American food. Get the Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding – thank me later!

Located inside the Dallas Arboretum, Restaurant DeGolyer is some of the best and simplest food we had in Dallas. You can either dine inside or on the patio where you can catch some stunning views. Everything we had was outstanding, but I would have to say that the grilled chicken sandwich was the best!

Dallas will always have a piece of my heart. The city of Dallas is growing quickly and I cannot wait to go back and explore so much more!

Sincerely,

Reneze
